The institution comes under the rights and power granted to all religious and linguistic minorities by the constitution of India - Article 29 & 30. The Institution is Co-educational and the medium of instruction is English while Bengali/Kokborok is taught as a second language and Hindi as third language. The purpose of the Institution is to impart to its pupil a sound, Moral, Intellectual and Physical Education, to train them to be useful and loyal citizens of India, and to help them to become agents of needed social changes in the country. The Karbook Mission traces its origins to 2011 when Karbook was officially recognized as a sub-division. At that time, the region faced a significant gap in educational facilities, particularly the absence of English medium schools. It had long been a dream of the Diocese of Agartala to establish a school in Karbook, with the vision of providing quality education to the local community.
A breakthrough came in 2013, when Mr. Dhasarath Debbarma, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) at the time, offered 15 kanis of land at Bhagya Prasad Para at the request of Fr. Prasad Rao, the then Principal of Holy Cross School Depacherra. However, the land presented its own set of challenges. Situated on two hillocks, the land was isolated, with no accessible road, making the construction process particularly difficult. With the permission of Bishop Lumen Monteiro, CSC DD. The Bishop of Agartala, Rev. Fr. Prasad Rao, with the support of community leaders like Mr.Gourango Reang and Mr.Birkumar Uchoi, faced considerable opposition from various quarters regarding the land acquisition and development.
Despite the opposition, work on the land began. The first major task involved levelling the hillocks and constructing a road to the site, a foundational step that would pave the way for the future of the mission. In 2014, the first phase of the school was inaugurated by Most Rev. Lumen Monteiro,CSC DD, comprising five classrooms, and offering kindergarten classes (KG1and KG2). Holy Cross had its humble beginning with 65 students.
The school's growth continued in 2016 when the SRA Sisters took over the management of both the school and the hostel, ensuring that the mission flourished. During the same year, with support from the government, the school was expanded with the addition of 10 more classrooms, enabling the institution to accommodate more students and improve the overall educational infrastructure. In the year 2020 with the appointment of Fr. K.M. Allwin as Principal, the school was shaped through various challenges from neighbouring free schools. In 2023-24 the school came out with the First batch securing 100% result in the TBSE Result. Today the school has reached its growth of 700 plus students.
